Korean Event Listings: 행사개요, 신청, 정원, 참가비

The reader can read Korean event listings and identify what is happening, who may attend, how to apply, and what constraints apply.

Core examples: 행사개요; 일시; 장소; 대상; 정원; 참가비; 신청방법; 선착순; 사전신청; 현장접수; 주최/주관; 문의.

Event Korean sits between advertising and bureaucracy

A library lecture, cultural-center workshop, city festival, museum program, public lecture, or community class may look friendly. But the listing still contains constraints: 대상, 정원, 참가비, 신청방법, 접수기간, 선착순, 현장접수, 보호자 동반, 취소 규정. If you read only the attractive title, you may miss whether you can attend.

Event listings are a bridge genre. They promote participation while managing people. That is why the Korean can sound inviting and administrative at the same time.

Core fields

행사개요 is event overview. 일시 is date and time. 장소 is location. 대상 is target audience or eligible participants. 정원 is capacity. 참가비 is participation fee. 신청방법 tells how to apply. 접수기간 is application period. 문의 gives contact route. 주최 and 주관 identify host and organizer. 취소 can refer to cancellation by organizer or cancellation of registration.

These fields let you make six decisions: Is it relevant? When is it? Where is it? Am I eligible? Does it cost money? What action is required?

Capacity and application language

선착순 means first come, first served. 추첨 means lottery selection. 사전신청 means advance registration. 현장접수 means on-site registration. 무료 and 유료 tell fee status. 마감 means closed. 대기자 means waitlist. 보호자 동반 means guardian accompaniment required.

Learners often confuse 대상 and 정원. 대상 tells who the event is for. 정원 tells how many people can participate. A children’s program may say 대상: 초등학생 3~4학년 and 정원: 20명. Both must be read.

Date and time traps

Korean listings may include 행사일, 접수기간, 취소기한, 발표일, 운영기간, and 회차. These are different. A program may take applications in May, announce participants in June, run in July, and require cancellation by the day before. The date nearest the top is not always the action deadline.

회차, 1회, 2회, 매주, 격주, 총 4회, 10:00~12:00, 14:00~16:00 all affect attendance. Do not assume one event title means one meeting.

Friendly language, precise constraints

많은 관심과 참여 바랍니다 is a warm formula. It does not override 신청 마감 or 정원 초과 시 참여 불가. 무료 does not mean no application. 현장접수 does not mean unlimited. 온라인 신청 does not mean email unless specified.

A learner should extract constraints into a small table before deciding to go.

Technical-review guardrail: 신청 is not attendance

Applying for an event may not mean being accepted. Look for 선착순, 추첨, 선정자 발표, 대기자, and 개별 통보. A listing can invite applications while limiting actual participation.

Remediation upgrade: event eligibility and capacity are treated as separate gates

The event-listing article now highlights a common learner error: 대상 and 정원 are different gates. 대상 tells who may participate. 정원 tells how many people can participate. 신청방법 tells how to apply. 선정 or 선착순 tells how participation is decided. 무료 only answers the fee question; it does not answer eligibility, registration, or capacity.

The pass also sharpens date handling. 접수기간, 행사일, 운영기간, 회차, 취소기한, and 발표일 should be extracted into separate fields before a learner assumes they can attend.

Mini practice: event-field decoding

Korean itemReading task
대상: 성인 20명Eligible audience and capacity clue.
정원: 15명 선착순Capacity filled first-come-first-served.
사전신청 필수Advance registration required.
현장접수 가능On-site registration possible, usually if space remains.
참가비 무료No fee; still check registration.
보호자 동반Guardian must accompany participant.

Learner workflow: event-listing extraction

  1. Read title only to identify topic; then go to fields.
  2. Separate event date from application period.
  3. Check 대상 and 정원 before planning attendance.
  4. Identify application method and selection method.
  5. Save 문의 only after you know the exact question to ask.

Suggested functions:

  1. Field chips for 행사개요, 일시, 장소, 대상, 정원, 참가비.
  2. Deadline timeline separating 신청, 발표, 행사, 취소.
  3. Capacity logic for 선착순, 추첨, 대기자, 마감.
  4. Scenario cards for library, museum, public lecture, children’s class, city festival.
  5. Exportable attendance checklist in plain Korean.

Final rule

Read Korean event listings as decision documents: relevance, time, place, eligibility, cost, and required action.
