카이스트, AI 데이터센터 발열 잡을 냉각기술 개발
연구진은 얇은 미세 물길인 '마이크로 채널'과 냉각수를 여러 경로로 나눠 공급하는 '매니폴드' 구조를 결합해, 냉각수가 미세 물길을 따라 균일하게 분배될 수 있도록 했다. 연구팀은 이를 실제 실리콘 웨이퍼에 제작해 성능을 검증한 결과 냉각 효율을 나타내는 성능계수(COP)가 기존 방식보다 최소 10배 이상 높은 수준으로 나타났다고 밝혔다. 같은 양의 열을 식히는 데 필요한 에너지가 전보다 10분의 1로 줄어든 셈이다. 김 교수는 "이번 기술이 AI 데이터센터의 전력 소비를 줄이는 핵심 기술로 활용되기를 바란다"고 했다.
