민음사는 세계문학전집 500번째 책으로 작가 이미륵의 <압록강은 흐른다>를 펴냈다고 15일 밝혔다. <압록강은 흐른다>는 3·1운동에 가담한 뒤 일제의 수배를 피해 독일로 망명한 이미륵의 자전적 소설이다. 고향에서의 유년 시절, 식민지 조선의 현실, 망명에 이르는 과정 등을 담고 있는 작품으로 1946년 독일의 피퍼출판사에서 출간됐다. 20세기 디아스포라 문학의 고전으로 평가받으며 독일에서는 일부 교과서에도 수록됐다.

The Yalu River Flows is an autobiographical novel by Im I-ryeok, who joined the March First Movement and fled to Germany to evade arrest by the Japanese colonial authorities.
The work, covering his childhood in his hometown, the reality of colonial Korea, and the path that led to exile, was published in 1946 by Germany's Piper publishing house.
It is regarded as a 20th-century classic of diaspora literature, and in Germany it has even been included in some school textbooks.
