Gunma Prefectural Isesaki Commercial High School in Isesaki has launched a project to develop a next-generation disaster-prevention system with Chuo College of Information Technology in Takasaki and Tokyo-based PicoCELA, which makes the "Disaster Stockpile Wi-Fi" system that can function as communications infrastructure during disasters.
Third-year students in the school's information processing department will work on it in their weekly classes and plan to unveil an original system at a press conference early next year.
The first class was held at Isesaki Commercial High on the 16th, where participants discussed challenges at evacuation shelters during disasters.
